SPARC Members,

2024 was an exciting year for SPARC! While focused on supporting our local, state, and national candidates during this important election season, we also had many opportunities to learn from our wonderful speakers and spend time with friends and colleagues. Here’s a recap of our year:

Fundraising Support for our County Republican Party: We worked hard to raise $55,000 for the Santa Clara County Republican Party this year, in large part to support our Republican candidates. The primary fundraising was from:

  • Our annual SPARC picnic co-sponsored with SVGOP – this year featuring Congressman Kevin Kiley & Fox News’ Steve Hilton
  • Our annual Christmas Holiday party co-sponsored with SVGOP
  • Our President, Jayne Ham, hosted a very special dinner fundraiser with Congressman Tom McClintock

Programs with California Congress of Republicans:

  • We partnered with our parent organization, California Congress of Republicans, producing virtual events which were available to our state-wide CCR organization and all CAGOP delegates.
  • January – Lanhee Chen. Hoover Fellow and former Republican nominee for California State Controller
  • March – Emerging GOP Leadership panel of Young Republicans
  • June – Tom McClintock, US Congressman District 5
  • September – Review of Statewide Ballot Measures with Tino Rossi, Swing Strategies
  • November – 2024 Election Analysis with Duane Dichiara, Axiom Strategies

Programs for SPARC Members and Guests:

  • We organized in-person speaker events with leaders and policy experts for our SPARC members and guests:
  • February – Dan Kolkey, Head of PRI California Reform Project, former Appellate Court Judge and advisor to Governors Arnold Schwarzenegger & Pete Wilson
  • April – Richard Levine, Author of Pillars for Freedom – exploring America’s national power and the foundations on which they rest
  • October – Tim Anaya – Pacific Research Institute, author of The Left Coast Survivor’s Guide

CAGOP Convention held in the San Francisco Bay Area:

  • We co-sponsored with CAGOP and Bay Area Republican groups the Friday Welcome Reception for all statewide delegates and guests
  • Co-sponsored with CCR – Saturday night convention celebration

We helped recruit and support SPARC members who ran for office:

  • John Zoglin – Re-elected to El Camino Health Care District Board
  • Alex Glew – Republican Nominee – SD 13
  • Liz Lawler – Republican Nominee – AD 28
  • Gus Mattammal – Republican Nominee – AD 23
  • Peter Ohtaki – Republican Nominee – CD 16

We helped qualify and elect SPARC members to the Santa Clara County Republican Central Committee:

  • Jayne Ham – District 5
  • Chuck Page – District 5
  • Nick Rajkovich – District 5
  • Luis Buhler – District 5
  • Roger Riffenburgh – District 3
  • Shane Patrick Connolly – District 2

Increasing Republican Turnout:

  • We supported the SVGOP GOTV campaign by reaching out to voters via Campaign Sidekick and direct outreach

Election Integrity:

  • We helped guarantee fair elections by attending CAGOP Election Integrity training and
  • Observing ballot processing at the Registrar of Voters

Young Republican Leadership Development:

  • We funded grassroots candidate support efforts led by California Young Republicans
  • We highlighted emerging young Republican leaders at a virtual event co-hosted with CCR
  • We recruited and sponsored young republicans to attend our in-person speaker events
