In Memoriam:
Paul Nyberg, former publisher, and owner of the Los Altos Town Crier Newspaper was a force for good in the community. After a lengthy illness he died August 2, 2021. Paul’s presence and contributions for building community were without peer. A man of great ideas and enthusiasm, you could not help but enthusiastically support his ideas and efforts.
In 2000, Paul had the idea that conservatives should be more active in the community, so he asked us to help form a new grass roots group of conservatives that included Duf Sundheim, Art Carmichael, Lou Becker, John Nicholson, and other local conservatives to assist and the South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition (SPARC) evolved.
SPARC has championed Republican ideals of low taxes, strong national defense limited government, individual responsibility, and leadership in world freedom. SPARC’s role is to provide a “big tent” support for Republicanism and the election of qualified Republican candidates. Twenty-one years later, the organization still thrives and hosts monthly meetings presenting great conservative innovative ideas and speakers. It will continue to be a growing voice in local and statewide elections.
While Paul may have departed earthly bonds, his lasting presence and contributions shall long continue. We have been blessed to know and collaborate with Paul and will forever consider him a friend and colleague.
With sincere condolences,
Sid Hubbard, Los Altos Hills Mayor (Emeritus)
Duffy Price, Los Altos Hills County Fire District Commissioner (Emeritus)
South Peninsula Area Republican (SPARC) Coalition Board
