February 27 | 6PM
Fremont Hills Country Club

Los Altos Hills
Join us this month for an enlightening discussion with Will Swaim on the current state of California and how we take back our Golden State.
“How to Take Back California” is the focus of SPARC’s speaker series in-person event at 6:00 pm on February 27.
There’s a joke circulating in California that goes like this: What’s the difference between the Titanic and the state of California? Answer: The Titanic went down with its lights on. You don’t have to live in California to get the dark humor, though it helps. That’s why we’ve asked Will Swaim, president of the California Policy Center, to take us on an illuminating tour of the most dysfunctional state in the union—and to consider strategies for returning California to commonsense governance.
Will Swaim is president of the California Policy Center. A journalist for more than three decades, he was founding editor and publisher of Village Voice Media’s OC (Orange County) Weekly, and editor of Watchdog.org, a national network of investigative reporters. Will graduated summa cum laude (in journalism and with honors in theology) from the University of Southern California. He earned an MA in history from UC Irvine where he was a California Regents Fellow. A seventh-generation Californian, he co-hosts with David Bahnsen National Review’s Radio Free California podcast. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, LA Daily News, San Diego Union-Tribune, Orange County Register, Wall Street Journal, New York Post and National Review.
